Stereo install requirements

So, I have a 2010 JKU Sport with the absolute base model stereo; there are no steering wheel controls, no Bluetooth, no Infinity factory amp, etc. I have a dash install kit with the wiring harness.

My biggest question is, do I need a PAC adapter (C2R-CHY4) to talk to the CANBUS or not?

Stereo Installation for JKs always seems to focus on tying into the factory amp and ensuring the steering wheel controls work. I can't find a single write-up on going from complete base stereo to aftermarket head unit.

If anybody has any ideas on this one, you could save me hours of frustration and trouble shooting while my dash is in pieces with wires hanging out.

Thanks!

If you don’t have any of the steering wheel controls or factory amp, it should be very straight forward. Simply match your adapter harness wire colors to the new stereo, then plug it in.

Great!
Thanks for the quick reply. I have to admit, I haven't done a head unit install for twenty years.
