the last two times i drove my jeep (after it sat submerged in mud for a cn hour or so) it will drive just fine but then all of a sudden i get a hard jerk to the right and i'm thinking it may be the caliper.

at first i thought it could be a tie rod end or something and that my alignment was a little off but today it did it and i felt the front end dip a little... then it did it again and it definatly slowed me down

my question is, how could it be the caliper if it happens when i'm not at all on the brakes and it doesn't just happen and stick? when it jerks it's very sudden and doesn't hold (except that one time i slowed down). it pulls abruptly and then it's back to normal.

so, caliper? if so, can anyone explain how, or why this would happen? my brakes feel fine and it doesn't happen while i'm on the brakes and it doesnt feel like the front right caliper is dragging when i let off the brakes.....

thanks guys

Spindle/hub bearings full of shat and locking up... the preamble to MAJOR catastrophe?

I had Dana 30 caliper problems. I got this axle which had been sitting for a while, after it had been submerged sometime before it was taken off the road.

Anywho, moisture got in the caliper and slowly seized (or ceased?)whatever, ...it fuggin locked it up! I had some number of miles on this 30 too before this happened.

To see if this is your problem, jack up the front axle and see if there's resistance in spinning this tire compared to the other (make sure hubs are disengaged).

What the heck was it submerged for so long for?

found my problem...

somehow the brake caliper bracket itself has bent... into the rotor..... ugh

time to call jeff's bronco graveyard!

haha, dagum it! ok ok i'll git-r-done and check it out today...

and by that, i mean when my neighbor gets home i'll have him hack up my jeep, pull the wheel off, pull the hub off, and check out those wheel bearings! haha

i have a jack, but i only have one useable hand at the moment..... the whole nail-through-the-thumb thing combined with the plethora of big ass percocet's has pretty much limited my activity to channel surfing and having sex with my left hand

if i was heavily medicated right now i'd probably post a picture that would get me banned....

so i still have no help on the jeep. hand is in a cast for 3 weeks. i have two female roommates who despise jeep grit and grease. my only neighbor who's actually in town and willing to help is at work all week. blah. this sucks.

-Erik <---- will take a stab at working the high lift jack after lunch, maybe....

probably about what i could have bought a stock hp60 for..... would have had to rebuild the 60 though so all in all i guess i'm happy.... maybe...

under a grand, but not by much if i had to guess..... but it's built! haha
