Thanks to the lovely lane closing on I-40 East one lane oopen, and that was the shoulder) it took me 2:45 to get from Winston to Raleigh thsi morning... and I just missed my flight at RDU. Only option was to re-route through CLT. Unfortunately next flight to Chicago isn't until 7:30.

So i'm stuck at CLT. 3:30 now.

If anybody needs a wrenching hand PM, IAM or call me, I'll work like a dog rather than sit here on my arse for that long. Thank God I brought my laptop and WiFi card!!!!

there is a guy here that is "maintaining" the bathroom. I love it. He stands around and sprays some nice smelling stuff, wipes off the counter, has a little tray full of nice smelling soaps, waterless cleansers etc. in echange people drop tips into a box. I love it. Capitolism at work.

That really sucks to hear. They did such a good job with the I 40 widening project that it lasted 6 mos before the concrete failed so now they have to tear it all up and try again. Fucking dumasses... Where is CLT?

Oh my FREAKIN' god!
I just slippedo ver to my gate.
Only to find out - flight delayed by another 1:30.

I really want to throw something!!!!

CLT Sucks.

It takes you anywhere from 30 minutes, to 30 hours to get your bags from the claim. IF the air conditioner works, they must have that thing set to 500 degrees.

And they have a very conveinent short term lot, that is always full? How does this happen?!

I flew through Charlotte last night. My flight was 45 minutes late for now freaking reason. I got home around 1230 las night and I had to be to work this morning at 7:30. I have always had a delay in Charlotte for what ever reason. Good luck getting out of that crapper.

Well it looks like it supposedly departs at 9:11. I gues that means I'll land around 11:30, get to the hotel around midnight:30. Conference starts 8 am. Thank God it's in the same hotel I'm staying at.
What a way to start a 6-day conference. At least i've had plenty of time to prepare my presentation....

Sorry to hear it man. Sounds like you also had a crappy day...My fiancee, her mother and father drove from Statesville to RDU this morning to fly to Boston. They got stuck in the same traffic you were in then found out that their flight was cancelled when they got to RDU. In order to get to Boston tonight they had to go to Greensboro and wait for a 5 pm flight. Then that flight was delayed an hour and fifty minutes.

It's not like it was secret or anything! They've been announcing it on the W-S news for a week and the DOT website... another detail you should have checked before leaving too late!

Was stuck in the same traffic yesterday AM myself... a few notes from the trip:

- No young hotties on the road that early, only soccer moms & retirees
- Idiots in $200 "throw away" import POS's are attracted to huge diesel trucks & semi's... Everyone else will get out of the way
- Need to pull the stack in favor of full exhaust... for those occasions when you WANT to smoke the idiot beside you
- Truck sits at the perfect hieght to get a great view of of soccer moms:D

I knew of the road work, and expected a delay.
It normally takes ~1:30 to get to RDU from my house.
I left my house shortly after 8 am to catch an 11:35 flight.
I have a hard time accepting that I did not leave early enough for any kind of reasonable delay.
I arrived at 11:00. Technically enough time to run and get on the plane. However I had to check a bag. Thiss is where I got screwed (and why I *never* check bags). Because of problems Friday, the line way very long. People were very kind and told me to go to the front.
However once I got to the checkin guy, he said he was blocked from printing the boarding pass b/c it was < 30 minutes, even though we both knew thre was time to get on the plane. How froostrating.

The whole time (hour?) I was sitting in that jamb, I kept thinking about Yager's anti-congestion post.
