Stutter

I was riding back from a little mudding today and the jeep started like stuttering and speeding up then dying down, any ideas on what it would be? its almost like I got bad gas or water in my gas but im almost positive its not that.

Any Ideas?

This is probably not it, just throwing some ideas out there, but maybe mud/water in your intake or the throttle position sensor?

This might not apply to the Grand Wagoneer if that is the truck but.... Water in the Distributor?

could you please tell us what vehicle engine transsmisson or other mods.

Sounds like a wet distributor. Take off the cap and spray a little WD-40 into it. Re-assemble & have fun!

Thanks for all the help, Its a 91 grand wagoneer with an AMC 360, water in the distributer could be very possible. Ill check this after noon and let you know!

exhaust?

just a thought but if the cap and rotor doesnt fix it make sure you dont have mud jammed in your exhaust. had this happen to a friend of mine. you can dissconnect the exhaust @ the exhaust manifold collector to check this or pull an oxygen sensor if it has them.

That could very well be a possibility, I have a cut out after the cat, and ran it open all day, ill check that out in the morning! thanks for the help!
