Especially when they have no front or rear driveshafts to help you with the pull, the pull is uphill in partial ruts, your winch is only rated for 8000lbs and you drive a lil Barbie Jeep. But somehow we managed to help get this thing off of Dutch John (much to all of our surprise I think). Just thought I would share since things seem a little slow. Thanks for the pics Kupe!

I used to work w/ Gib (guy in the Sub)....big tires & 1/2 ton sometimes do not mix I guess.

how did that happen? he blow both driveshafts or u joints. how did u like the rope joel?

Pretty much like Doc said. I may not have this exactly right since it all happened before we got there, but from what I saw one of the ears was gone from the rear driveshaft so I am gonna guess he spit the caps. They left it up there that night (Saturday) and came back to get it Sunday (amazingly nobody parted out the Burb Saturday night). Someone was helping them strap it out when the front driveshaft went. When we got there it was in the middle of the trail and not going anywhere so we gave them a hand in getting it out. Eventually the Carolina Jeepsters ran into us and Haley had a guy with a much more powerful rig than mine strap him the rest of the way up. I did get 3 full pulls in before Haley showed up and other than being slow there weren't any problems. The winch was a little warm though to say the least. :D

Alright kids, repeat after me... "NEVER, EVER wheel the towrig!" We spent half day winching an F250 SD to the top of RML when he lost a front shaft... sucked! (but that turbo *did* sound evil spooling up! :D )

That's his toy.....his buddy has a Ranger on 33's I believe.

I wanted to lift my '70 Sub until I realized the same thing would happen to me!!

Have you seen the Ranger Doc? I thought I saw 36's because it sure looked like IROKs under it. The 8" body lift on the Ranger was pretty trick too. ;)

Any of you guys know who drives that green suburban on 40s? It was stuck out at the Arrowood Rd. trails for a little bit?

Sorry, I didn't see it. It seems like the bigger full size trucks are taking a beating out there this year (that or I never noticed them before). We saw this Excursion in May sitting on the side of Dutch John Rd with a busted knuckle, no front driveshaft, and a rock wedged between the spring and tire on the driver's side to get it off the trail. http://wrangler.rutgers.edu/albums/UNF5-28-05/Excursion.wmv

That Excursion looks very similar to a guy i know from fayetteville. His names billy brown, was that the guy? his has a huge lift, 40 in boggers, diesel, and no front driveshaft..

I have no idea. It was sitting on the side of the road when we saw it with nobody around.

Wasn't that the day the winch needed rewiring and then the Yj had a blown U-joint?

I know this is old but - was that the time when some kids in a f/s chevy destroyed their front axle on kodak? Then one of the Excusions friends in a white f/s blazer with Rockwells tried to pull him up and broke his 4 link?
Thing is, we ended up giving the 3rd buddy in a buggy a ride out 'cause he couldn't keep it running. I don't think with that group of friends it would have mattered if they were driving bicycles. All money and no brains = walking.

Nice recovery points ont eh front of the lifted, heavy, broken Sub...

I was there that weekend wheeling the Z71 (bad idea), I remember passing by that excursion several times as we went through the various trails, I wonder what caused that. Yea fullsizes and uwharrie don't mix, I broke my steering box that trip :(, and my friend who's also in my suite up here at NC State layed his Bronco's rear quarter panel and bumper on a rock and thats why he now has those sick bumpers seth made him.

Hum.....
I don't know what you guys are talking about but I wheel a Fullsize all the time with no issues. Oh wait Mine is a JEEP :D That explains it:driver:
