well, i went in this morning and had my tonsils and adenoids cut out as well as a septoplasty....honestly, i dont even feel any pain in my nose, it's just draining blood... the tonsils hurt a little bit but NOWHERE nearly as bad as i thought they would... ive got lots of liquid pain medicine though and that is helping lots... overall im glad its over with and cant wait to be fully recovered

ill be coming home (parents house) tomorrow morning... right now im still in charlotte... ill pm you my number

What exactly is a septoplasty? Doesn't sound like fun.

septoplasty involves cutting out cartilage inside your nose... basically shaving out the middle "divider" to make your nostrils wider... i have actually had no pain from that, just lots of bleeding.... the tonsils hurt the worst

My daughter just had her tonsils and adnoids out. The pain hits its max about 5 days after the surgery. I just asked her for advice and she said t keep those pain meds around and stick to soft foods.

So, uh, why would you want to do this? Does it stop snoring or something?

only real cure for a deviated septum. In extreme cases, breathing is impaired, big problem when laying down (AKA sleeping)

In many casesi it will help alot with snoring.
My roomate in college had a deviated septum, he snored likw a bastard. I would actually have to kick the underside of his bed (bunked) to get his ass to roll over, lol.

Tonsils are painful, I had mine removed when I was 18, hurt like hell. Keep track on the pain medication, you'll be back to normal in no time :)

to sleep. Usually this is done in an extreme case of sleep apenia. Sleep apenia is basically when you stop breathing in your sleep, and you "Wake up". You dont get the REM sleep you need to actually refresh your body, and generally have bad headaches in the morning, sensitivity to light, sometimes memory lapses.

Doctors usually put you on a breathing machine to keep your airways open, I think its called CPAP. For most people thats okay, but for some its annoying, and more importantly doesnt work. This is where the type of surgery 91Yota had done comes it. Generally it allows you to sleep fully without the use (or with little use) of a CPAP machine.

Im not sure if this is the reason why 91Yota had the surgery, but this is the most common reason :)

EDIT***

Forgot to mention, surgery's for Tonsils are done for some snoring, but mostly if they have a tendency to become infected for you.

yeah, my tonsils were constantly infected, my nostrils might as well have been non existent, and my adenoids were huge... lots of sore throats, bad snoring, sleep apnea, always tired, i had it all... now im chugging liquid hydrocodone and acetomenaphine(sp?) and trying to ride it out... it'll be worth it in the end though cause for once in my life i'll actually be able to get a good nights sleep :)

I am going to have my septum fixed at the end of the month. Between allergies and having my snoot broke twice, I can only breath out of the right side of my nose most of the time. I can only remember having a tonsil infection once. I was 21 and my family doctor told me I was too old to have them taken out. Should have went to the ENT.

Yes it does..

I had the outer layer of my eye ball cut, scrapped, stretched and then reattached this past tuesday while I was awake watching them do the surgery... oh and then I had to drive home after :)
