My next project for the Jeep is seating, I first concern is the rear seats. I have two boys (4 and 6) and would like to have dual seats in the back as apposed to a bench. Sometimes its better for them to have there own space. I am not looking to put a "youth" size seats in, I would prefer to put in seats that could grow with them and seat an adult if needed. Of course budget is a factor, thats the reason for the post.

So my question is what are you guys experience with different brands, types, where to get them and so on.

Just looking for most bang for the buck.

Thanks for the advice

Well I'd do adult seats then and use an approved car seat. Kids seats are 5 point anyway. I know in VA they have to be in a car seat until 8 anyway. Don't know if you're driving it on the road or not but it's something to think about.

Currently the boys are using the Factory Bench with a Booster on one side and a Car seat on the other side. I want to go to a true seat with a 3 - 5 point harness. I just feel in the current set up if the jeep were to flop it would toss them around quite a bit, Now I try not to put them in danger, but I would rather be safe that sorry. The jeep is 90% Trail and I plan to retain the factory belts for when we do drive it on the road, which is just up to Brown Mountain OHV which is 10 mins from the house.

Mastercraft has a nice suspension bench seat. I'm not aware of any individual seats that will fit in the back any two door Jeep. But then I am not Omniscient.
The MC Baja have a tubular base and I suppose they could be modified to fit such that one side is mount up on top of the fender well.
Made a set of low back seats? If you are handy with a welder, there are endless possibilities.

I have even looked at the Seats that are for a "Side By Side" or "UTV" since there smaller and still made for an Adult.

Yotakids truck has seats in it I think would work, I have looked on Summits site and the measurements seem like I could fit them in there, It not an issue if I need to mod the jeep to fit the seats.

I was more or less looking for peoples experiences with different brands and so on, What to look for and what to stay away from.

i've heard seats from AMPI are good, but run small. Not sure if it would fit your needs.
i'm in the same boat your are and i've been researching them for a while now..

PRP has some nice seats that would fit a kid well, but they're not cheap. i've been thinking about them....you could always sell them once they grow out of the seats and get some of your money back. Alex at Carolina Truggies can get you those.

good luck and post up when you decide.

Adult size suspension seats start at 22" wide. Even PRP's UTV seats are that big. I'm not sure how you're going to fit two of those in the back of a Jeep. TJ is only 40" +/-. CJ/YJ is narrower.

PRP makes benches for this purpose.

Unless you're going to drop some coin on a 3G or something, I say go with PRP. They're all custom made to your specs.

I can hook you up on PRP's, don't think that they are out of your price range.

Don't waste your money on Corbeau's either, once you sit in a PRP thats a wrap....the support and comfort is 10x better. We race in PRPs, rolled, hit trees, jumps and I wouldn't ever use another seat.

UTV seats are just shorter. Width will be the same.

I would love to know what you end up purchasing and or using. Suspension seats are my next purchase and like you I am looking for a solution to carry the kiddos around safely or at least safer.
My vehicle is an FJ40 but the measurements are fairly similar to that of a jeep body.
