who has the best kit out there, who uses what and etc..... picking up a D44 rear so i might as well finally knock this damn thing out in one hit.

I ran the Teraflex one on my NP231 for several years with no problems, and now have the same on my D300. Can't beat the price from DC4wd.

yeah, i say go with the hack and tap

the reason a lot of people say it is half ass is because it doesnt upgrade the output shaft strength, but from reading your posts i dont think you need to upgrade the output, and you should save the coin,

i know if i do a sye, i will most definitely go with the hack and tap, because it is cheap and fits my needs

hack and tap?
whats the difficulty of doing an sye yourself? thought about it, but the tcase kinda scares me. im mechanically inclined, i have just never tackled a gearbox before. suggestions?

Take it apart and keep it in order. With a hack and tap it really doesnt involve too much disassimbly. Just dont break the bit off in the output shaft (which i have done with a crapy hitachi bit) and you should be fine. If you can change an axle shaft then you can do a hack and tap.

i'm using Advanced Adapters short shaft kit. It works great and am using a tom woods driveshaft. I was going to go with the hack and tap option, but wanted the stronger output shaft and just didn't like the idea of cutting the old one. i would think the heat created by cutting the old one could weaken it...then again, i could be very wrong on this. besides, i sold my original output shaft for 50.00!

As long as it's a 96 or later XJ you can save some money with the hack and tap. If it's a pre 96 then the benefits do not outweigh the cost, go with the HD version.

Dragon, installing an HD SYE is easy.
