95.5 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 2.7 Manual Trans

With the truck running the trans wont shift into gear..replaced clutch (whole kit), master cylinder, slave cylinder less than a year ago. if you try and crank the truck with the clutch in and in gear the truck moves...slave cylinder and master seem to be fine, only thing i can think of is teeth broke off the pressure plate????

Any advice, before i pull the trans?

i had same prob on my yj. turned out to be flywheel that was surfaced below specs.

Disk in backwards? Easy to do if you are not paying attention. If it is, its warped and should be replaced.

Wrong release bearing, i.e. too short?

Wrong slave cylinder?

Air in master cylinder...did you bench bleed it?

Bottom line, disk is not releasing from pressure plate and flywheel.

Check all the part numbers you were given from parts store.

Finally, disassemble and take parts back to store if disk was not put in backwards. Verify parts are correct for your model.

My $0.02

welp, pulled tans tonight....

clutch disk was "rusted" to the flywheel. truck was drove last sundaynight then wouldnt go in gear monday mornin. never seen anything like it. both the flywheel and pressure plate have an "imprint" of the disk and what looks like rust on them

anybody ever seen anything like it or know what could cause it.....plannin on resurfacing the flywheel and replacing the clutch disk and pressure plate hoping it doesnt happen again

Ive seen clutch disc rust to the flywheel but only on stuff that has been sitting for a long time you can usually get them to break loose by putting it against a tree and matting the gas until it breaks loose.

That sounds like fun even if the clutch and flywheel were not rusted together.:flipoff2:

my M38 will stick like that if it is humid and I don't drive it.I get it to break free by starting it in gear.
