I just thought this was pretty bad-ass looking.

Getting to the point now, every car you see is the new Charger.

The new Caprice at bad either

are those front wheel drive cars? I know popo uses front wheel drive cars sometimes, but to me, I just think of rear wheels smoking! Besides, how would they ''whip'' it around in the median w/ front wheel drive..lol

They do look kinda cool anyways.

That new caprice looks an awful lot like a malibu...

And a front wheel drive can't generally handle the curb jumping the po po do. hHence the reason they don't buy them too often.

the caprice looks like our city cops malibus.

and the ford just looks like its trying to imitate it so they can get some more government cars back on the road.

and i dont understand why these cars still have light bars it looks like by now they could incorporate them into the roof line or something, cause most of our cops around here don't have light bars its all inside the car on the winshields those sneaky _______

The next time you’re pulled over for speeding, you might be surprised by what you see in the rearview. Ford recently unveiled its replacement for the Crown-Victoria-based Police Interceptor -- and it’s a Taurus.

“Ford first introduced its police package in 1950 and today the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor is the industry leader,” explains Jalopnik. “The automaker's dominated the streets to the point that over the last five years, Ford's controlled more than 70% of the patrol cars sold. … Unfortunately, the Crown Vic's Panther-platform's getting a little long in the tooth — it hasn't seen a redesign in over 15 years.”

So out goes the Crown Vic and in comes the Taurus. “To develop the all-new Police Interceptor, Ford engineers worked hand-in-hand with Ford’s Police Advisory Board of law enforcement professionals, which provided input on key vehicle attributes such as safety, performance, durability, driver comfort and functionality,” writes Ford.

While the new Police Interceptor is based on the 2010 Ford Taurus, the changes are significant.

According to Cars.com, “Police departments across the country won’t be piloting just any Taurus off dealership lots. Ford says approximately 90 percent of the interior has been redesigned for police use.” Unique features include front seats with anti-stab plates to protect officers from violent criminals and vinyl rear seats to make cleaning up after messy ones easier.

Ford Police InterceptorThat’s not all. USA Today reports: “The Taurus-based model will keep the Police Interceptor name but offer just two 3.5-liter V-6 engines, no big V-8s, as in the Crown Vic. Ford boasts that the standard version will be 25% more fuel efficient than the current standard V-8. And the version with two turbochargers, what Ford calls EcoBoost, will deliver 365 horsepower, 115 more than the standard Crown Vic.” The 365-horsepower V6 is the same found in the performance-tuned Taurus SHO. An optional all-wheel drive system will also be available.

The result is a better-performing police car. “Ford’s new police car can endure a rear-end crash at 75 m.p.h., easily jump curbs and accelerate twice as fast as Ford's outgoing iconic Crown Victoria Police Interceptor,” says the Detroit Free Press.

However, the competition is tough. “The Taurus-based cop car will have to compete against the Dodge Charger cruiser, which looks good and is plenty fast with the available Hemi, and the Chevrolet Caprice, another rear-driver which is pretty much a Pontiac G8 in all but name (and civilian availability),” writes Edmunds.

Ford will cease production on the old Police Interceptor in late 2011 and begin introducing the new Taurus-based model in 2012.

Pretty simple answer. What does one do when they see a police car? Slow down. Even if your not speeding, you double check and sometimes slow down just in case. Really, the fully decked out police car (light bar, etc.) works pretty well as a deterrent on its own.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters, so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say? Is it the new Bluesmobile or what?

i know if cops wanted to be saw then they should paint there cars that horrible state yellow.

if i was puchasing new cars for a force i would put as many undercovers as i could then stick it to the people , because every county needs tax money.

I read awhile back that Chevy made a mistake by making their police cruiser a unibody. The LAPD actually owns their own frame straigtener because they have so many collisions, hence LAPD probably won't be buying Chevys.
That being said, I don't know if the other automakers have a real frame now or not, or if they are all unibodies.

wheres this at?

With that ugly ass rotator on top, no where serious about using it as a real cop car.

Apex does have some mustang GT cop cars though, around a 07 or 08 model if I remember correctly.

One of my brother's friends back home was a retired NYPD cop. He always would laugh at the cop cars talks because he said most city cops drive around in POS impounded drug bust cars. When they broke them beyond reasonable repair they get a new (different) car. He said high speed pursuits were about 30mph.

Stallings has a bright red one, too.

My big thing is the po-po uses the cars for a lot more than an interceptor. Those fwd models are quite bit smaller than the old Crown Vics, so what happens when you put a cage in the rear and fill the passenger side up with radios and laptops? Not much room for the driver...I have seen a new Charger with a single occupant cage on the pass side of rear. Lets drivers with long legs ease the seat back comfortably. Besides the Chargers are cheaper than the Crown Vics.

its a Z06 at that :huggy:

my buddy who is a wake co paramedic got to ride in it a while back. they never made it into 4th gear....... :wheel:

yea i knew it was its black too! i just slow down when i head through wake county anyways, theres always a good amount of cops there

and cops have plenty of leg room but not very much manuaverabilty in the crivers seat of those malibus. when i worked at the car wash the city county and state all got there cars washed there, it really didn't mater which vehicle it was if it had a cage there wasn't a lot of room, but most cars in our county don't have cages and most dont have the speed stuff either

the Chargers are pieces of shit too. my buddy whom i mentioned earlier in this thread has had all kinds of issues with his. he managed to lock up the motor in his going thru a puddle of water that was ~1 deep in a parking lot one day. they only cost wake co 17g a piece but they got what they paid for. he was listing off all the problems they have been having with them the other night but i cant remember what all he said. they are fast as hell, but thats the only good thing about them

There are always Dodge haters out there but I do know in the last 3 years they have become the primary suppliers of cars to more Police districs then any other manufaturer. And the way the police drive them all manufactures cars get trashed thats why I think it is funny when I see someone driving an old cop car bought at auction you know it is is the bigest pile of crap every sold.

It doesn't hurt the Charger SRT8 comes with 426 hp in civilian form so I am assuming with the police modificatons it would be close to a 450-475Hp. Which means you could buy 5 of the chargers for the cost of one of the L06 corvette and you only loose about 50hp.
