TBI 350 vs 454?

IMHO, it is going to be very hard to compare.
1) There are a shit ton more 350s than 454s, so there will be more "Still running" but then again there will alsos be many more fell aparts as well.
2) The 350s saw life in many forms (Camaros, caprice) where the 454s were exclusively in trucks and got worked harder as a rule.
3) @@&@&@&!&@*@(#)!+++++====+__+-=12-3=-@!KMLKWQN

What the hell just happened to the rest of my post?

gotta run will try and re type later

350s are a dime a dozen, running or not...454s will cost you out the @$$.

What should you realistically expect in a 95 burb 454 vs 350?

in my 96 k1500(vortect 350) I got 19 on the hwy but it was all stock plenty of power

I had a 89 c3500 with a 454 all stock and got around 12mpg. I could smoke the tires till they popped tho

Do you mean expensive to do repairs or to buy in the first place?

Repairs on either would be comparable. The initial cost of the 454 will be VERY high, especially if you want a running one. I'd expect to pay $2500-$3500 if you want one in good shape.

WTF are you talking about?

I've been looking for a decent 454 for years, the only RUNNING ones I've found were at LEAST $2000. And no, that wasn't in PA, that was while I was in NC. You know where you can regularly find them cheaper running, I'll shut up. If I found a rebuildable one for a couple hundred, then fine, but that's not possible in my experience.

My guess is there is a running 454 burb in PA for $1500. The body will be shot for sure, but with a $2500 engine in it, it would be worth the trip.

Car-parts.com comes up with over a dozen under 1K.
most with warranties.

in the past 3 years I have personally bought and sold 3 TBI 454 TRUCKS for less than $3500 (well only SOLD one less than 3500, but bought all 3)

If you are only looking on 4wd boards, maybe,...but a little creativity and open eyes they are out there.

Between our recent land purchase, and building a house etc.... my parts hounding has died down significantly...but if I needed a TBI 454, Id bet wager I could have a good running one for $1500 in a week or two....give me longer and id wager I could cut that number in half.

My comment about a trip to PA was insinuating if I could get 3500 EACH for tbi454s.... then yeah I need to get back to parts hounding whoring and just deliver them up there...

Hey, if you've got the means to find them that cheap, then more power to ya. I've looked everywhere, high and low, 4wd forums, craigslist, ebay, newspaper ads, junk yards, you name it... The last time I found one for $1500 was one that had a knock, in rebuildable condition. I've seen bare blocks with no crank, pistons, heads or anything else but maybe the main caps go for over $500. I guess I'm just not that lucky.
