Whats involved? What years do i look for?Its going on a 350 in my Jeep.Iwont need all the wiring, just the engine controls.Thanx:popcorn:

huh?
Wont need the wiring? Im not sure I understand what you mean.

You will need the Throttle body and intake (or an adapter plate to put it on a 4bbl intake)

All The sensors MAF,TPS, o2, etc. (this could vary based on what year engine you have)
The ECM
And the dizzy
And the harness...Im not sure how you get away from thee harness, you will need the end to plug into the ECM. If you find away around this let me know.

the way around it is call howell. and buy a harness with all the garbage such as security and other annoying problems you have with a stock ecu/ wiring harness. hook up sensors, and three wires and your done.

As noted above, the Howell wiring harness will make life a lot simpler. I have seen their products first hand and this is quality, plug and play at it's best.

Howell is not the only plug and play wiring harness but the best I've seen. Do a Google search on EFI wiring harness. I have read threads were guys have tried to mod and cut an OE wiring harness with success but the head ache is not worth it.
You need to PM TPS regarding details of EFI or TBI wiring. He has first hand knowledge and hands on with these set ups. Good luck.:huggy:

I used painless in my tbi 'ed willys let me know if I can help ya Tim

painless harnesses are great quality as well. the best part about howell is you can get your ecu updated to whatever engine modifications you have done (headders, cam, ect) they do it in house and their customer service is second to none.

I've done many fuel injection swaps and all of them been the factory wiring. I've used a painless and it was NOT painless. The factory harness is the best way to go if you get everything from the vehicle. Just my 2cents.

I used the Howell system and it is as stated, plug and play :driver: The Holley system, well that is another story...:shaking:

I have an aftermaket harness ,to run the rest of the jeep

Ive done 3 factory bowtie TBIs set ups and one howell.

No way the howell is worth the Extra cash IMHO.

A while back someone was telling me of a guy andy used (think his name was Jim maybe?) who would not only doctor your factory harness to eliminate any un needed garbage but also re wrap thee harness to look brand new label everything and reflash the ECM to eliminate the unused factory stuff. Seem like it was less than $200 for everything too.

Oh yeah, my biggest problem with Howell, had a problem at Tellico and no parts nearby, with a bowtie not nerly as much trouble at NAPA....

That's why I like factory

I have always used the factory harness
the newer ones are easier becuse th ECM is in the engine compartment allready. it would be cheaper to buy a whole engine with factory harness than it would be to peice it together.

Just my .02

x2. tbi chevy's are pretty easy, and howell is very proud of anything they sell. I've also heard that their customer service sucks.

I send everything to jimsperformance and have him cutout whatever is not needed, but there is plenty of info online about tbi's to do it yourself.

sorry for the hijack
you have contact info for jimsperformance?
I will be doing one again in about a month, and Im gonna give him a shot if he is as good as advertised itll be nice...

I started with a factory harness and cut it down myself and re-soldered everything. I was able to place the sensors and electronics/modules where I wanted them and run the wires.

All the wires are very clearly color coded and easy to keep straight. After doing 1, I would do a 2nd without thinking about it..

Also depending on what year TBI (ECM or PCM) you can have a few extra wires/sensors or eliminate them with a custom chip. I chose to get a burner setup and tune things myself. thirdgen.org in the DIY-PROM section is a great place to start if you go that route.

yep I got the cord and win dll Shit I think thats the right name..
I wouldnt wanna not have my laptop to read and drive....
