Tech help!

I have a 2002 Z71 (5.3) and the transfer case is meeting the end of its life. I have a few questions that would help me out a lot in knowing how to handle this situation. 1) What kind of transfer case is it? 2) Is it cheaper to rebuild the old one, or let Aamco replace it with a remanufactured case. 3) Are there any better stronger replacements out there on the market? Any responses to these questions would be very helpfull.

I would find a good used one out of a wrecked truck and replace it yourself.

I can give you a number to a guy in willimington that will rebiuld it for you, can probably do it pretty cheap and better than getting an unknown case of junkyard. I would steer clear of amaco. Ill pm you his number tommorrow.
