Lookin\g for suggestions on a good textured paint for coating the fenders/rockers of the 4runner after a hack body work job to repair the classic rust cancer. Texture is of course to hide my shtty hack boddywork on a beater.

Looking at the Rustoleum Textured stuff in a can - but I wonder if it tend to catch dirt and not so easy to wash off w/ a hose?
Or is there maybe a good Plastidip to try out?

I have used ebay spray in bedliner material in the past with good results and it pressure washed clean. I have used several brands and they were all decent. Raptor was "smoother" and glossier.

Hm thats a thought. I don't have a gun, and it's not enough sq ft to justify a gallon can and mixing etc.
I see Raptor has a spray can... but holy hell $50 for 1?

I used the walmart spray bed liner and had good results. Just have to have good surface prep.

Painted my whole truck with a gallon of Rust-Oleum bed liner from advance auto and a thick Knapp 3" roller for house paint. Shake it up to distribute the rubber chunks before painting.

We used this also and it worked well.

I used Rustoleum Hammer coat years ago. to paint underbody and engine compartment. It has held up well (for paint) but rocks will tear up any paint. Bed liner material I think would hold up better. Rustoleum sorta hides the imperfections but you can see them with the high gloss. I'll try and take a pic tonight if I remember.

Picture of my nerf bar with rustoleum hammer coat and engine bay. Plus front bumper with rustoleum, cant specifically remember the finish but it was a flat texture. Paint holds up well I think. Only thing is prolonged exposure to fuel, as with any paint it bubles.

Thanks. I use the same stuff on pretty much everything, its great for bumpers and sliders etc bc you can just spray more on later.
It does take a little experience to get good and getti g the coating/texture right, bc if you apply too much or too little it really affects the texture density later.

Bumper was rattle can and engine bay was with spray gun. Friend painted the engine bay, but the rattle can does just as well i think, and you can touch it up. Never have though.

Any experience w/ Rustoleum or Duplicolor spray on bedliners? Rattle can?
I'd like more texture/durability than the normal Rustoleum Hammered stuff.

Def has to be a spray can instead of roller b/c of the exo cage, makes access to some areas difficult

I used the dupli color bedliner spray on my old XJ winch bumper and sliders. Held up very well and the texture was not as course as some of the other spray on liner but had more than the hammered stuff. I’ll try and find some pics if you’d like
