TF727 swap

what are the advantages of having a TF727 instead of say the 999 3 speed, which is what is currently in my jeep. i have noticed several people swapping them in, but not necessarily in the same application that i have. just want to get some info on this and also is it a straight bolt in or are there adapter plates that are needed to run this with a 4.0 and np231, possible dana 300 swap later on down the road.

the 727 is just more heavy duty. The 999 is considered medium duty. D300 snaps right to it

aight so what about it bolting upto my 4.0 and np231. i know it would be perfect for the 300 when i decide to do that

It would bolt to it I imagine, but you would probably have to use the harmonic balancer from Advance Adaptors, because you wouldnt have provisions for the pickup. Plus, you may need a 2 piece front driveshaft. Alot of work!
