I've got a 208 with th350 adapter I bought from a guy and a th350 I bought from another guy. Everything bolts up as expected except the output of the tranny is too short to reach the input of the case. They don't engage. The th350 originally had a 203 behind it I was told. But I had the understanding that all 4x4 350's had the same output. So whats the deal. Shouldn't they work fine? From the pictures I find online it looks to me that a 203 uses a much thinner adapter than my 208. Am I missing something or am I gonna have to break down and buy a new output shaft for my tranny?

you sure the 208 doesnt have a th400 adapter..

Here is what I have. Probably 2.5" to 3" thick Im guessing without it sitting in front of me.

And here is a 203 to 350 adapter and its supposedly 1 3/8 thick so I guess thats the difference provided that the 208 and 203 inputs are similar in length. Looks like I'll be buying an output shaft.

The 350 for the 208 has it's own output shaft. It was a one or two year only deal iirc, like 1981/82.The 203 adapter is only about an inch or so thick so the shaft for that trans will be shorter.

Then it would have 6 bolts and not 4. Most 208's came behind a 700r4, same bolt patern, different input length.
Your correct on the bolt count but most Th400's had 208's behind until the 241's came out.All the Mil CUCV's had Th400's and almost all of those had 208's.

Well wouldn't that just figure.
