th400 6.2diesel vs 350sbc

Standard GM pattern.

Usually with a low-stall torque converter.

I used a 700R4 from a blazer with a 305 and swapped it behind my 6.2 with no problems.

Yep, motor mounts and bellhousing patterns are the same between the 6.2 and smallblock gas motors.

You will have to get a different conveter for the 400.The diesel conv has a larger nose and will not fit in the 350 crank.

Are the converter's from a th350 or 700r4 interchangable with the th400 one by any chance? (probably just wishful thinking) Any recommendations on one?

The th350/th400 converters will interchange. You can use a 350 converter in a 400 and vice versa. Not the case for a 700r4, since they have a lockup clutch. The input shafts are different, too.

You'll also need to change the govorner in the 400 trans to one for a gas motor. Otherwise, you'll have some goofy shift points.

Any good websites with information on how to change the govenor in the th400?

You won't need that. All you have to do is go to the parts store, look up any given vehicle with a 400 trans, (call it a 82 chevy 4x4 1 ton with a 454) and get the govorner. Should be less than $20.
All you do is look at the driver's side of the transmission near the back where the transfer case adapter is, there will be a round cover.
Pull off the bail wire that may/may not be holding the cover down, then pry it out with a screwdriver and a few gentle slams with a hammer.
When you get the governor cover off, you'll see the existing governor in there.
Pull it out, slide in the new one.
Replace the cover.
Pop the top on a cold one.
