I have a 2wd turbo 400 to put in my trail rig. I was going to run a divorced case but I think I would rather run a normal tranny/trans-case setup. I have been told I can change the back part of tranny and it will then bolt to a np205 is this correct or would I have to get a new tranny. And if true where could I get this piece or pieces I would need. Thanks for the help.

It depends if the 205 came behind a 400 or not. Either way the output shaft has to be changed, which involves taking the ENTIRE trans apart, valve body included

If the tcase came behind a 350 you can still mate it up but you need a 375 output shaft. I'm doing this right now to build a doubler setup. I'm using a short 375 output shaft in my 400 mated to a range box from a 203 into a dana 300.

In case you were wondering what a 375 is its a 400 trans with a 350 output shaft. They made a bunch of different lengths shafts.
