Got this jeep from Darrin on the board. Thanks man.

This is quasi hardcore build and it will definitly become more-so before it is all said and done with. The goal for this build is to build a reliable dd/wheeler that can handle most any trail in the southeast. I got this jeep in trade for my toyota truggy.

Specs-
87 YJ
94 4.0/ax15/231sye - soon to be 231/box4rox/231sye
D30 - 4.56 w/ cable disconect - lockrite
8.8 - 4.56 - Full Detroit
37" Creepy Crawlers w/ steeles and weld on beadlocks
OBA etc. etc. etc...

Right now it is spring over with 2" or so OME front springs and what I think are BDS rears. It has a 2" body lift(coming off) so it has a total of about 6-7" of lift.

I am doing something that has been done on before, but maybe not to this extreme for suspension. I am frenching the front and rear springs 4" above the stock position. My goal is to end up spo w/ 2" lift leafs and actualy net about 2" of suspension lift.

I'll be building a flat belly and tucking everything up and out of the way.

And before anyone says anything. Once the truck is running the way I want, I plan on selling these axles and getting some built 1/2 or 3/4 tons.

Some Pics

As I recived the Jeep - I have to comletely wire the 94 motor so that is going to be fun.

The first cut

How this will work (The cutout will be plated to enclose the frame, the outside of the frame will be plated to ensure strenght. I think it will just as strong if not stronger than stock when I am done.)

Yea, Hated to let her go, but his plans were better than her dying a slow death in my front yard. But the truggie will be fun!! got to get her streetable tho, so I can wheel her to the store and stuff ! LOL!! got to get head lights back in her rework the tube in front. and wire up the tail lights. hows your CJ doin Brent? you wanna go wheeling?:driver:

oh yea the gears are 4:56 in the jeep

Looking forward to watching this one.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing with my rear springs. Maybe not quite so high though. The last time I went out I was hanging up on the hangers bad. I could have made some obstacles much easier.

I'm really suprised it isn't done more. To do this and not do a shackle reversal is way harder than if I would have. But even then, its just some basic fabbing and I get all the benifits of soa with 2" of total lift.

Plans are for Caver to come over and bring his welder so we can knock out the last couple of items so I can put it on the trail... FINALLY! :shaking:

csduman: I'm interested to see how this build goes.

Anyway, some more pics.

Near Ride height, 1-2 inches to high still

Does anyone have a messurement from the top of the tube to the bottom of thier frame rail in the same place on a stock jeep? I'm trying to find out how much lift I will have.

Just for fun:) The 2" body lift still has to come off and the tire has 1-2" more to go up before ride height.

Got some more done today. I finished sealing off the frame rails with some 1/8" plate. Built all 4 plates for the frame.

One thing for those that are considering this. I missed one detail when I decided to do this. The Springs are 2.5" wide. The same as the frame rails. The edges of the bushings add another 1/2" to the width makeing the need for the inside of the mounts to be that wide as well. I solved that buy basically doubling up the brackets. Pics will explain it.

This is going to be pretty cool. Keep the good work up.

Thanks man, Its not terribly difficult to do. I hope it works, otherwize I've got a bunch of patching to do. :)

Well, update time. I got my box4rocks doubler, a RCI fuel cell and a harness from a 94 yj so I can rewire this jeep. I've got the axles sold and I have my eye on a built waggy 44. I'll probaly run an isuzu or toyota rear.

Heres a few pics showing the new ride height. I'm pretty happy with it.

Any opinions on my shackle angle/setup?

Looks awesome. Are you gonna have to notch the frame for your steering?

Well, I put a deposit on a new axle today. I'm getting a waggy 44 w/

4.56
33 spline ARB
2 sets of Superior 33 spline inners
1 set of superior outers
Longfield U-joints
Diff Gaurd
Highsteer
Extra stock shafts etc...

About 3500.00 worth of axle for 1200.00

So when I get home, I'm gonna take a picture of the toyota with trees growing through it in my backyard. Its still trying to finish itself as well. Maybe they'll finish each other and go out dancing.
