The Goodyear Military Hummer tires

Good on road, great tow rig tire, average offroad, basically an aggressive all terrain tire, but usually they can be had for cheap to free, I have two sets laying around for spares, runnin em on my 1 ton Z71 tow rig absolutely love em as a tow rig/DD tire cause there stiff so they wear better and don't bulge when loaded, but the stiffness kinda holds em back when offroad if you try to air down

Berg Military Supply in Fayetteville is my choice. X2 on what jrraw23 said. I run mine on my 3/4 ton Bronco. Plan on running them on a DD project.

I have a buddy that was running them (2 sets) and the best price he found for them in NC was that place in Fayettvile

tires

i have bought some tires from berg before, not happy with them. they were not willing to stand by some of the tires they sold me. (pm me for more info if you like) either way, you can get these tires brand new from a company called east coast tires located in asheboro. i picked up a set b/c i thought they would be good for a DD/tow rig application. not so much the case for me. max inflation is only 30 psi., and they are only load range c. not to mention they are a bias tire, so after sitting over night, on a 3/4 ton truck, it takes a while for them to round back out. as far as tread life, i cant tell you much, i took them off before too long. didnt like how "squashy" my truck felt with a loaded trailer.

i know this is exact opposite of what everyone else has said, just giving you my feed back.

but if you still want a set, and would like them for cheap........pm me, and we can work out a deal. there on a pallet inside the shop right now

good luck

Hmmm, I run mine at 30 psi and yea there C load rating but I had never had an issue with them being squishy or bulging whatsoever on my Truck when I load em up, and while my truck is a Z71 I have done alot to it its like halfway between a 3/4 ton - 1 Ton truck. I have also had the truck absolutly loaded the frack down far beyond whats legal and never had an issue with the tires towing/hauling. I have had issues with minor flat spots in the morning but as soon as i drive a few miles they are quickly gone. And I tow my Z71 Jeep with those tires, and that thing weighs more than most peoples rigs on the board and have never had issues with squishiness or bulging.

Blaster do you tow bumper pull or Gooseneck? I have heard that the tires don't like gooseneck applications from a guy who tried to run them, but he was pulling a dual car hauler, so IDK, I pull bumper, got those superduty airbags in the rear makes towing bout anything like nothing ridewise :driver:

benttire they are a pretty good tire for DDing, towing and light to medium off road trails like what has been said earlier.

blasterr1 I am wondering which military tire you are talking about. The old Hummer tires that were used on the 8 bolt Hummer rims were Bias. If you are talking about the ones that are on the 12 bolt Hummer rims those are Radials. Thats why the Military went to the 12 bolt rims because the Bias is 25-35psi and the Radials are 40-50psi. The Military tires that are 37x12.5 R16.5 LT load range "D" Radial and the 36.00X12.50-16.5 load range "C" Bias.

guy on ebay has 20 of them for sale for 899 plus 200 flat rate shipping. Maybe you could get 4 other people to go in and get them with you. My friend ran them on his 95 2500 dodge and he loved them. He had them on it for prolly 2 years before he switched them out for something else.

I guess opinions vary, but I just can't see using a C range bias tire on a tow rig.

the ones my friend had were load range D

tires

dont know what happened with my reply, so ill try again

the tires i was typing about in my first post were the 36's, goodyear wrangler rt 2. (36 12.5 16.5) i have also had a set of the later model 37's. i prefer the 37's simply b/c of the load range and the higher pressure rating. going from one pair to the next is when i noticed the "squashyness" of the 36.
(squashyness<----is that a word?)

ricky, im towing a tag along as well. 16 ft, tandem, dove tail, blah blah blah. my tow rig is an f250 SD. 8ft bed, with a snugtop camper shell. the front of the trailer has an 8k lb. winch on it, with a full steel floor. im sure all this is a contributing factor to tongue weight, but i can only give my personal experience.

hope i didnt confuse anyone, esp the original poster, but other than that.....good luck
