96 2wd s10 with a 4.3 my dad bought new. I call it the Hornet because there is a .22 Hornet bullet hole in the door...

85 Yota front axle with ifs hub conversion 58" Wms-Wms, marlin crawler mar-link and trail gear high steer arms. Sky's off road SAS kit and wagoneer 4" front springs. Barnes 4wd perchs u bolts and spring plates 4.56 gears

1994 4runner rear axle rear disk swap using solid front rotors and calipers and ebay brackets. Barnes perches u bolts and spring plates, rear springs are 56" long from a full size. Relocated rear hangers using the Barnes bushing and sleeve parts, 6" shackles. 4.56 gears

Both axles will be trussed and armored along with spartan lockers.

Trans will be a 4L60E using Advance adapters kit to mate it to a twin sticked 205 case. I need a good trans core I have all the other parts already.

Still a mile long list of things to do.

I happen to have it setting here is only reason I chose it. The advance adapters piece will take any thing with the 4 bolt pattern. So if I run across a dirt cheap/free alum cased something I may go that route because I had to go through hell to get the truck to set as level at it sits now. Any extra rear weight may squat it.

I quit messing with everything for a while, new baby and I was just tired of it. Shoved it back inside a few weeks ago and decided to finish it. I really need a hunting camping rig to keep my suburban out of the tree limbs.

So I'll start at the back and move to the front, I chopped off 6" of frame rail behind the spring hangers, cleaned up the hanger mounts and boxed the front in. I gave the bed away just to force myself into a tube/truggy type bed. A guy gave me a bunch of square tube so I went with square tube, not really a big fan of square tube built beds but for free.99 ill make the most of it.

Still a ton of work left but ill get there.

V6 powered S10 huntin' truck on toys? I love it!

I know it's not the most ideal setup by running these axles but cost and 4.56 factory gear ratios was what sold me. For all I plan to do with it and its not making HP numbers enough to push any limits so I hope it works out ok.

If you're not looking for a hardcore crawler, those axles will be plenty. If you do want to upgrade, all you need is a set of longfield shafts up front and you will be good for 37-38" tires.

These are v6 thirds from a 4 runner. I had 488's but they are kinda bastard gear sets with no replacement gear sets available, or something along those lines.

35's will go back on it, 37's would be nice but ill play it safe for now. I took the overload leaf out of the front pack so it won't set like a mud rig anymore and the 35's looked better than the above pictures.

Working on wrapping up the bed, cap the corners, having a buddy laser cut the panels for the fenders and get a hole saw big enough for the super40 tail light grommets. Should be on the truck this week. I hope I can shake the money tree soon so I can get my tires and wheels ordered.

And I worked out a labor trade for this badland bumper. It's from a Yota but with the sas crossmember it's nearly a bolt on deal.

Had a friend laser cut my filler panels, and I used some dead space for a fuel jug holder. The panel is hinged so with out the jug I won't just have a hole there.

Few updates.

I sold the original tire wheel set up I had back when i side lined this build. So another set was a must have. The rear disk conversion brackets I had bought off eBay were eBay quality and just required to much spacing for my liking. Wheel spacers and bracket to caliper spacers won't cut it on a rig my kids will be in.
These are sky's offroad brackets, using k1500 front rotors and GM G body front calipers/pads

Like a fool I sold my first bender. A new one came this week. Along with my wheels.

Maybe I'll get to work on it this weekend

Mounted my tires today, decided to spin the truck around for a little more work room with welding the perches, and I needed to see how the bed looked from a distance. Still so much to do and never enough time.

I guess I can update this, I finally finished the bed, all the wiring for the lights, put in the fuel cell and everything is plumbed up. It runs again. I boxed the rear section of the frame rails where gm did not, cross tied the shock bar etc. got the right rear disk kit and all that is bolted up and plumbed to. Spartan locker lives in the rear.

Next was the front, it say way to high from the start and I hated it. Since it was originally 2wd the sas kit wasn't exactly a throw it on install.

Ended up going with a astro van steering box and went with rod ends to build all of the steering.

The shackle hanger was landing in the worst spot, so cutting a section of the frame was a must. I still didn't end up with a perfect shackle angle at ride height, if I have issues later ill take it from there and do what's needed to fix
It.

Yea I would like to check out your rig, been to long since I went anywhere. Where did you see the other s10 at?

I hope to be driving it before end of the year, having time to dedicate to this build is a challenge but its family stuff so I can't complain. Not to mention deer season start this sat, that will have my attention as well. That's a must though, I have to keep the freezer full.

I really couldn't throw out a date, I still need around $2000 to get all the parts I need. Money and time are tough to find sometimes. Iam hoping before dec, if i miss ure ill hit houser lake for a shake down run. It's only 20 miles from me so driving it there won't be bad.
