Moab Rim Trail

With foreman1036 playing the "overnight the parts" game, we dropped his rig from the group and headed to Moab Rim Trail. foreman1036 and scjeep, in a Moab rental, joined HANO and me as HANO led another great Moab ride. We ran into a little weather today, scattered showers, but just the little rain collected quickly in the bottoms and I was able to see how quickly you could get flash flooding out here.

The trail leaves the river road at the trail head and ascends a shelf ledge to the rim. Several large steps along this stretch make mistakes costly.

Once at the top you also get rewarded with a view of Moab in the valley. Sand Flats Recreation Area with Hell's Revenge, Lion's Back and Arches National Park in the distance.

Taking the day off from wheeling tomorrow for a day of sightseeing. Heading to Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park, giving The Krawler a rest :)

man that is sooo awesome!!kinda making me for sure wanting to go out there this summer!so what happens when you need parts or break down so far away?i guess your just screwed?lolIs it hard to navigate where to go out there?

what did foreman break??
Didn't really break anything John just wore out the ballistic control arm bushings in one day.
I'm running ballistic joints on one end and made the mistake of running bushings on the other end (bad decision in hind sight) . I have joints being over nighted to get back on the trail tomorrow.
Other wise very happy with everything, Jeeps been a pleasure to wheel.

Some of my favorites from today... (btw JC I have some of the links to my wifes Pictures from the trip on my build thread on 4x4grace)

Holy crap foreman - I have never met anyone else around here with a picture of Bubbles for an avatar. TPB rocks!

BTW - Who did you rent the jeep from, and what were your thoughts on doing that?

Gonna go fix up some shopping carts now...

Wheel it like its a rental !!!! Whoooo !!! Go Go Go !!! I'm adding this to the list of things I want to do when I get my junk done..

You guys are running 40"+ tires how much of this is doable/fun in 35"-36" tires?

It appears the JK rental has skills.
X2 on the "fun on 35's" question.

You can do 90% of Moab on 35"s and lockers. Most trails have bypasses for the nasty stuff which allows for smaller rigs to have as much fun as one can handle.

If you are into the sport of rock crawling/trail riding, Moab can be a life time experience for any level of rig- open/open 32"s to buggies on 49"s.

I think your the first person to pick up on that and yes TPB does rock.
Farabees Jeep rental and it's a good way to wheel Moab if you can't get your own junk out here. Lots of fun!

Come on with us in 2012 Mike. You'll be good on 95% of stuff with the rig your building.

I think you can do about anything we have done with 35"s. Might need a tug once or twice but it's all about traction out here, tire size is a secondary consideration. Bring it :)

You guys are killing me!!

No regrets, I love my fiancé. She wants to go with next year!!

Dang guys, you are making me so jealous.
I have got to do this trip.....next time someone is puting one together please let me know!
