... Yeah. The stupid engine light came on tonight.

I left my computer reader in my other purse (not a joke, but funny, I really left it in my other purse). My husband proceeds to calm me down (I wasn't freaking out, more bummed than anything).

Tomorrow bright and early, to the shop Baroness goes. (Only bought her two weeks ago, but we have warranties up to 110k miles, woot woot).

Hopefully, it will be a quick fix and we'll have her back before Friday evening.

... Oh I never went back outside with the reader.. Blah.

If all else fails, electrical tape fixes it from being visible! (Kidding but not) probably an oxygen sensor or evap leak

Because my husband has so awesomely trained our bulldog to only wake ME up in the morning..I went out with my reader..here is what I got. Ignore that the readingfor miles is in km

P0456 ..anything I should know this code other than.

It could be the gas cap? Or some other thing that has to be fixed? Like I said still under warranty but I don’t want to keep having the same issue lol and I’m overly paranoid about getting screwed from a dealership shop.

What do you guys think? (I’m aware I’m more than likely overly paranoid) lol

Likely something else but the guys at the parts stores would love to sell you a new gas cap. Without a smoke machine, it'd probably take forever to find.

Yeah. Gonna let the dealership deal with it. :/

Yep, to find it properly it's going to take a shop with a smoke machine. Three most common causes are gascap, leak detection pump, or a split rubber hose in no particular order.

Since you have a code reader, you could try loosening and retightening the cap and clearing it to see if it was just loose then see if it comes back, but if it does take it to the shop with the light on so they can see freeze frame data (freeze frame data is a snapshot of sensor readings when the light came on, kind of like a black box on an airplane)

That code won't hurt anything if you leave it on and drive, it just means the jeep is putting gas fumes into the air (polluting) similar to an 80s or older car would. You won't be doing any damage to the jeep if you needed to drive it a week or so before taking it to a shop.

just dropped her at the dealership. ...now we wait, lol

welp...it wasn't just the gas cap.

some direct line to the fuel tank is cracked, and it requires new lines, and a new gas tank....

bummed-not gonna have a jeep for this weekend. ...Brightside- either the dealership is going to cover the warranty deductible, or We're gonna have to pay it, but if they don't offer i'm still going to ask, as this is not something that just started and happened in the past 2 weeks of ownership only driving to the grocery...but again either way, hey We are getting new lines and tank cause warranty.

Tell them to give you a loaner Jeep and bring it.

So I did get a Jeep loaner (it’s the Chevy dealership)... so yay!!!!..

Bad news.. it’s a compass lol. Essentially a 4x4 minivan. Lol. . And I’m only in that until Friday (may get extended until Monday) if it doesn’t get extended the dealership is going to me a rental (which I will insist is a Wrangler or rubi) lol..

But good news bad news sandwhiches, ..got a loaner, and still gonna make it Saturday. Might be bumming the backseat of someone lol but we will be there meet everyone lol.

Allow me to paraphrase:

"My Jeep broke and needs to go the dealer. Things got worse because they loaned me another Jeep." :D

Some of the 4wd chryMercCo Jeep's have a neat feature with the abs to function as a quasi locker. Cool idea, don't know how well it works in practice. I think it's the commander though. Maybe the compass too.

:) see yall Saturday lol
