Left the house about 5:00 AM this morning. Had to stop in Taterhill at the Wal-mart to get Steve a license. We arrived at the New River just after dawn. Unloaded our pile of gear and launched at the Hwy 88/16 bridge while a couple waited to see how we did in the shallow water. Not having rained any sustainable amount in May, the river was quite low. Nothing really eventful, except the fish.............Steve caught several nice sized Small mouth. I caught one and a huge sunfish, and a couple of small ones. As I was the host, I did my best to keep him in the prime positions and locations. We had a great day on the water..................took several photos early on, after a while; I forgot I had the camera with me..............
Sorry about the quality of the photos, I took my Wife's Sony pocket camera. I have a Pelican, Mil. Spec. waterproof case for the Nikon, but it can be a job when you're trying to get good photos, canoe and fish..........enjoy!!!

stupid dumb Lowes and working on weekends. I wish I had the time for stuff like that. Looks like a blast though!! Im trying to get a good canoeing trip together with some of my buds.

Shouldn't this be in the photo gallery?

Now I'm not baiting (no pun intended) with this question - what is it about fishing that people like so much? Is it the relaxation? A good excuse to drink beer?

I've never understood it, and would like to understand why it's enjoyable for those who do.

DT I am up there about every weekend except I am chasing trout. 4 over 20" already this year and one day where the 3 of us C&R over 50.

Delayed harvest streams open up this weekend. Full stringers by 7:30 are the norm.

ok nevermind, when you said the New River and I seen the walmart I thought it was the one up there in VA. looks like you guys had a great time.

my guess is the same reason people like to go blast deer when they are in season? Personally I'd rather fish and drink beers on a pretty day than lie in the woods, in the fall/winter, freezing , with deer urine all over me.

Me, now... I'd rather go bowling. AC all year and no mosquitos.
