The Right to Repair Machines We Own

This is an interesting article. Of course it originated from California. It also reminded me of the struggles that Tesla owners currently have. Being that new technology is repaired by software, not necessarily hardware.

I like that the article uses the argument that people should have access to the engineering data so that they can update their old machines to new emissions standards... Like any person has done that, ever, in history.

Or the fact that the EPA enacted legislation in 2007 that's says if end users modify the machine and it violates emission standards the manufacturer is liable...

What time period would the manufacturer be held liable for failed emissions? 5 years?

I recently bought a used 3000 Ford diesel tractor for $3300 and felt like I stole it.Last week I was talking to a guy about tractors and the price of used ones.He said that farmers who have smaller farms and can get by w smaller tractors are not buying new as much as good used tractors. He blames it on this very thing.
