Things to do in Jacksonville, FL

The wife, Daughter, and I are headed to Jacksonville, FL to stay the week for spring break this year and just looking for some must do things and places to eat while we are there. We are staying in a cottage off St. Johns river not far from Huguenot park, right near Fort George Island.
 
Singletons Seafood shack is about the only thing I’ll stop at in Jax that I know of.
Black Rifle Coffee Co. only because I like their coffee, but it’s a small location. I suggest stopping at the BRCC and Nine line outside Savannah on the way down, instead.
St. Augustine is just south of JAX and is historic and nice.

Only thing I know Jax to be good for is driving straight through.

Amelia Island north of Jax is a nice drive too.
 
There is some massive candy store/factory that my wife loves in Jax we went to a few years ago. You can make your own candy there and then take it home with you...if interested I can find the deets.

The Landing used to be a cool trendy area, but they crushed it after covid.

For good eating -River & Pst and Black Sheep are both good and on the river...cool views and vibes. Good outdoor and rooftop patios if he weather is right.

St Augustine as mentioned is cool for young kids and old history buffs.

Ponte Verda BLVD through the ocean front WMA is a cool drive if thats your thing.

No doubt on the drive through.... There are some very rough areas in Jax. St Augustine would definitely be one place I'd visit. Amelia Island too. Ponte Vedra Beach is nice.
 
This trip is really supposed to be about being content and relaxing at the house since we will have a pool, view, grill, fire pit, pier, etc but I just can't help but want to get out and explore, especially new eating spots.

Agreed...BUT I will say, they Kahn's have done a great job developing around the stadium area.

I would be most concerned where OP's rental house is. There are some areas of Jax that Chicago folks look at and say, 'Damn that's sketch'

You are in Atlantic Beach, not Jacksonville. That's a good thing!

Definitely take a half day or so and cruise up to Ameilia island. Its an awesome area -probably a 25-30 minute drive. Some good beaches and great local food.

Fernandina is a little more of a stretch, another 15 minutes north....but my wife's favorite florida atlantic coast beach
 
What @Ron said. You're on the north side of the river so either having to take the Mayport Ferry over to "mainland" Jville or a little bit of the drive. I would head north.

The Down Under and Shuckers in Fernandina are some of my favorites. Fort Clinch State Park has some good trails for both walking and biking. Not sure what kind of shops are in Palmetto Walk anymore, but it used to be a cool little spot with locally owned shops. My aunt had a bookstore in there when I was growing up.
 
If I was in Jacksonville Fl on a weekend I would visit the church of 1122. Listen to pastor Jobi Martin's stuff all the time. Google his series on "stand up and act like men"
 
I know you said Jacksonville and trying to chill. But if you get bored you’re really not far from Orlando. Worth a day trip to take the kid to sea world or something. I never knew Jacksonville was the hood of Florida til we stayed there and cruised from there. Also you can drive the beach or atleast at Amelia island you can. Also not too bad of a ride to Daytona beach but it’s a shithole in my opinion.
 
The Cape is about 2 hours south. It's really cool in my opinion. There is also a killer aircraft museum in Titusville close by. If you go there have one of the guys give you a tour.
