Im sure theres a thread about this but if the jeep sits and cools down, when I start driving I can hear it tick on acceleration. it only lasts a little but eventually goes away. would an oil additive help with this? it has 187k on it

Additives a snake oil imo. Ive seen multiple issues cause this from exhaust leaks to timing chains but ive would vote the most common problem is lifters. If it bothers you just replace them. You'll likely get some performance and fuel economy back and it'll sound like a new one!

The 4.0 oil pumps get weak over time. Your problem is the hydraulic lifters not being pumped up. If the rest of the engine is good, a new oil pump, and new lifters will cure the problem.
A lot of people switch to a 15w40 oil to mask the issue.
