I've pulled @Stuntman Autoworks and @ghost so much, I'm due for fresh rope on my truck.
It's been years since I've bought any.
What's the current hot poop for a synthetic winch rope? I want one of those cool self locking hooks and prefer a color.
Current one is a Rough Country if memory serves and it's been fine.
Thanks yinz.

My last rope was an amazon special. For the record I think you pulled me once…

This looks good sitting on mine in my garage

I have a custom splice blems on the toyota and jeep and amazon specials (1/2" on Excursion winch and 3/8" on trailer winch) on the other two winches. I've pulled the excursion out twice with the amazon winch with no issues. I also would second the Harbor Freight recommendation, that's what I was going to run on the Excursion, but second guessed a 3/8" line and went with the 1/2" instead.

1/2" rope

3/8" rope

Bought some of this for my 8274 and it looks good on the workbench. Can't beat the price though.
I got an x bull winch, looks legit, but the eyelet on the harbor freight looks more solid and that’s usually the failure point unless the rope has abrasion

I got a nice one from Amazon. I needed 150' so it was a little different. I found one in grey with reflective lines through it. Seems to hold up well.

Reflective lines would like it would be a nice feature. I’ve winched way more at night than during the day for some reason…

Usually that reason is called alcohol

Because it's always that "just one more trail before we head back to camp" that ends in flopped rigs, broken axles, and 2 AM recoveries.
Sounds like following a Jimmy Smith buggy and 3 WOD built rigs though Rattlerock, School bus, half of Windrock and wrapping up the day with Rail Trail. All in a full body Ranger.
Homemade tamales by campfire with @frankenyoter afterwards

@Jody Treadway
I’ve used Warn rope all the way down to Amazon specials.
If you don’t care about the color, you can usually get a great deal on whatever one is less popular from Bezos.
Currently have 2 gray, Blue, and green on different winches, plus trailer winch(I think it’s gray also) and I wouldn’t hesitate to pull the trigger again.

This one matches the Ranger, (and it’s cheap) but other colors are available.

I mean it just really sounds like you want to come to Windrock in 2 weeks…
