Have a 2002 silver 4runner, and the back speakers are starting to go out, and was looking for any suggestions about a good head unit, front and rear speakers. My budget is about 500, not including instalation.

Currently looking at this head unit by alpine http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?search=ida+x001&i=500IDAX001

And these speakers:
Alpine SPR-17C 6-3/4" 2-way Car Speakers for the front
Alpine SPS-400 4" 2-way Car Speakers for the rear

Also looking for a good place in Winston to have the stuff installed. Thinking of Bestbuy if they install stereos for people who don't buy it in the store.

I would like to get the front two windows tinted, hopefully the same as the back windows. What is the tint of the back windows stock? all I could find was somewhere in the 20's, but read that in NC legal for front windows is 32-35 and up.

Recommendations of good places in Winston to have it done?

Thanks alot

I am not sure about your 4-runner but I know the stock tint on my jeep rear windows is 20% you can have the rear windows as dark as you want but the front two windows have to be 32% or up to be legal. I would not recommend a shop like Best buy to install your car stereo unless you get it free because you bought it there. Do some hunting and find a local shop that does good work. All the Alpine systems I have ever seen have been good reliable systems. I personally also like Pioneer. Hope this helps you out.

most factory privacy glass is in the 15%-20%...

the legal for front windows is 35%...but that have a 3% margin of error...hence the 32% number you'll hear...I point this out just so you won't think you can go to 29% (use the 3% off of the 32% instead of the 35%)...

The interface on the X100 is much improved over the X001.. just FYI.

custom Hi-Fi is in winston they put a system in my brothers camaro about 6 years ago and it is still doing fine. They came highly recommended to us and we were pleased with them. They are off of stratford where the arby's is down the street from thruway shopping center. Turn onto the side road that arbys is on and they are the entrance across the street.

I checked out mapquest. If you go down Stratford from Hanes mall to thruway turn right onto Knollwood and then right on Witt St.
Should be 3 building or so on left. Name is Custom Car Hi-Fi I believe.

If you want descent sound....stay away from the Pioneer Supertuners....I bought my Alpine deck at (the last 2 actually) from Bestbuy for about $150 to replace the POS Super tuner and love it....it plays MP3 formatted discs that I have like 180 songs on...Its in a Wrangler and never skips except for hard wheeling!
If you want full sound you need to go with a seperate mid and tweeter combo, or atleast a 3 way speaker, but just my opinion.

Ck out stereo shop on 67. They sell Alpine, and should be able to set you up well. I think the sales guys name is john. Stay away from best buy!

Oh and if you dont mind the drive, i could hook you up with the alpine deck, but I dont sell their speaks. I sell JL and Rockford on those. Im only about 30-45 mins outside of WS
