Building a tire carrier for the Zuk and I need some ideas for a latch system. Post pics if you have 'em. Thanks.

I use a destaco locking clamp. I will see if I can find a part # for you.....

I made mine with a Trailer hitch pin and couple washers a spring and a block of Delron (simliar to Teflan)
Drilled two holes throughmy swing out where I wanted the Pin to reside. Put the spring inside the swing out tube and ran the hitch pin throught eh swing out and spring. measured and drilled a hole for a cotter pin to hold spring.
Drilled and cut Delran block to mount to Bumper and be the receiver for the hitch pin. Now I have a spring loaded hitch pin that I lift up and swing out. Works like a charm.
not sure If I have pictures, but I'll take a look.

Edit: found my concept drawing.

I have one like chip has. It woorks good and looks clean. I put a rubber bushing underneath it so it wouldn't rattle. From northern tool....

If you're using a trailer spindle...use something that will positively secure the tire carrier rather than just a latch. Something like a bolt or the "cam lock" that protofab uses will work. Destaco also sells a couple that will do the job. You can't have the carrier bouncing around and vibrating...not only is it annoying, but the spindle can/will break.

I use a piece of round stock welded to the end of a 3/8" bolt, with a tab on the bumper that the bolt threads into. It takes 10 seconds instead of 3, but I know it is secure, and won't shake loose.

I don't think the trailer axle spindle is going to break. Mine is rated for 3,000 lbs and the next one smaller is rated for 1750 lbs. I have not had any problems with mine for over 5 years. With the bushing under the latch it doesn't rattle at all.
