Looking for a couple tire spoons. You guys that have them, where did ya get'em at? Looked at northern, but what they have is described as "Ideal for cycle, ATV and golf cart tires." Other than length, are they all pretty much the same?
I have mounted dirtbike tires, but never anything as big as a 36" swamper.

I have a set of spoons and while i agree with Lee the manual changer is a super tool its just not practile to have with you at all times...

I bought mine from extreem outback or somthign like that several years ago when i got my tyre plyers, and I have used them continually ever since..

I even used em on the side of the road this spring when a trailer tire blew and i only had a new tire and no rim..

They do take some pratice so id strongly suggest doing one in your driveway, before you tackle one in a downpour on the side of a road...

Tractor supply had some also, <$10 each iirc

Mike,

I was looking at the tyrepliers also, looks like a great tool -- but $150 bux --ouch(extreme outback is sold out). I couldn't really find any distributor in the states.

Another friend also suggested the HF tire changer.

I am gonna go by northern and look at their spoons in person.

kevin, go down to mcgees crossroads "used tire" place. It's at the BP. its the typical one bay redneck place, but they mounted my 35's and its only 5 minutes from your house (it was only like $40 w/ balancing too). make sure the younger guy (looks to be about 20, he drives some crappy old toyota car) is working, the old man won't do it.

These are nice once you use them a time or two....air them down, break the bead w/ my 15's & 280 lb butt (or drive on them), spoon them off, viola! stores easily in the toolbox. Found mine in the middle of the road in Asheboro about 14 years ago, go figure.

Another vote for the tire changer posted by Lee. A friend and I went in on it, and he mounted it to his trailer. We have changed quite a few tires with it. It makes it so easy. We were also able to break the bead on an ATV tire which can be very hard to do, and I too mounted a 40" TSL with it. Well worth the cash.
