hey guys, heres the story...

i bought a house 4 years ago. the previous owner had died, so i pretty much "inherited" everything on the property when i bought the house.

on the property was a trailer ive been using around the yard but i want pull it on the street now. I cant find a vin plate and there is no place to mount a liscense plate so i assume he never had it registered.

what is the process for getting tags on it and should i expect any problems?

thanks guys. also, just noticed i posted this in the wrong section. my bad.

Yea what they said above... I did this about 2 years ago exact same situation as you. Went to the tag officed paid a small fee (like $7) for a sheet of paper with a VIN #. Stamped that number on the tongue and axle. Took the trailer to the SHP station on Silas Creek, they looked it over and signed the paper that it was ok to tag. My trailer definately not homebuilt, even had a the manuf. name on the back but officer did not even bat an eye.

well, picked up the application today. so far so good. just popped in the plate agency. they asked a few questions, width, number of wheels and axles, built by me or someone else. how old, homebuilt or bought.

Ive got it listed as homebuilt. The guy at the DMV seemed to be in a good mood. He waived the notary fee.

Next stop is the Hwy Patrol office on other side of town. Going to replace the decking, lights and wires this weekend before having it inspected.
