Tj Dana 44 rear: Does the longer shaft go on the passenger side

just wondered if the long shaft goes on the pass side or driver in a rear tj dana 44? thanks for any help

Umm would i post a question if i didnt need an answer? So no I wasn't joking.

Landon I didnt post the question to get smart ass remarks. This aint Pirate. I've ruined 2 seals and 2 bearings I like an answer from someone who knows. Im trying to make sure the chomoly axle I just bought isn't bent.

I mean, if you have the knowledge of installing axle shafts then i would assume that you know which side to install the correct shaft in.

ummm, are you joking?

i mean its a simple question to you maybe but some people have to learn, they were not an expert like you straight out of your mom's ass!

The whole point of this forum is to help and support one another, even if you don't personally know the guy (or girl) in need! Why make dumbass comments to someone trying to learn?? This is the main reason i never really post on theis forum, people like you trying to make yourself feel better by trashing others! I don't know you or the guy asking the ? but it pisses me off reading this crap

And there's these "things" with numbers & hash marks on them... used to measure the length of of other things!

edit: someone just told me they're called "tape measures"! :flipoff2:

that would have been a better answer than.."um, are you serious!!"

I guess one of the "Jeep things" is not having a scence of humor cause you guys take things way to serious.:shaking: Lighten up a little, if he didn't want any wise cracks maybe he should have posted in the newb section.

Thanks dae03TJ thats all i needed a simple answer from someone with experince with a TJ 44.

And I promise I'll never ask for help on this board again.

Jeez, you guys are taking this way too seriously.

lil99tj, i'm sorry if you thought that i was being a dick about your question. But if my little comment is goin to make you not ask for help on this board again. Well, thats your decision, and i'm sorry you feel that way.

Jonnyjpr ummm, are you joking?
Would it not have been easier not to post anything since you didnt know the answer.

lbyota85 X2^^^

But it sounds like your problem lies elsewhere..
That was my problem the shafts where on the wrong side. I switched them around and everythings fine now

Mods I got my answer so your welcome to delete this thread since it just really full of a bunch junk not much tech

Its been so long now I don't remember the answer to your question, but having actually had a TJ w/ a d44 i can say it is easy to mix them up. They are only ~1/2 difference, and if you have a detroit or a spool (open through the middle) you CAN install the shafts in the wrong side. The problem is one side will have a lot less spine engagement...

...and it's pretty easy to remember that the rear is the same as the front, as to which side is longer...or is it that it's the opposite from the front?...:confused:

hope that helps...:D
