Wondering if anyone has tried this. I like the dash in the TJ more than my YJ. Are the widths the same do they match up with the mounting holes?

Also I was interested in Installing A/C in my YJ and it did not have it before. Will I have to change the dash to get the correct duct work? How difficult is it sto wire up and install?

Any help would be great!!

Andy

I'm not sure about the TJ dash in a YJ. I guess with enuff modification it could be done. As far as AC in a YJ, it is a stand alone unit installed under the factory dash and has its own fan and control unit. You will need to scavange a receiver/dryer (accumulator), a compressor and a condensor as well as all the hoses. I have a factory under dash assembly if you need it but IIRC there are many companies out there that sell the entire kit new for about $750. You should have no problem installing everything yourself and then just carrying it to a service station for the evac and charge.

As far as a TJ dash in a YJ. Yes, it has been done. I was looking for the info a printed on on 4 years ago but can not find it. I had a YJ and bought everything needed for this swap but then got an offer for my jeep that I could not say no too. I will keep looking. Search Yahoo for more info, that is were I got my info from. thanks John

Ive considered putting a dash from a 97+ XJ into my 90XJ, and while they are dimensionally similar, the electrical system is totally different due to OBDII and analog vs. digital communication on sensors. I would assume this is also the case from a YJ to a TJ, so just wanted to give ya a heads up.

I remember when I was going to do the TJ dash I was going to use several aftermarket parts to make it work. I friend of mine did the swap you are talking about. His came out flawless....
