It's time to swap out the crappy lift that came on my TJ when I bought it a couple years ago. I was a hard core CJ driver for years(a CJ for a daily driver takes some dedication) and now am a little softer in my old age.

I have got some major tire cupping problems at all 4 corners, but I don't want a huge lift or anything over 33's. This TJ is the replacement DD so it needs to be tire wear-friendly. Had a buddy who ran OME and it rode great, but am interested in what you guys have to say about Full Traction. Seems like they have a good deal going with their kits.

Any and all comments appreciated...thanks

are you againt rubicon express? between OME and full traction i would have to say full traction. if you want a good deal on a rubicon express 3.5" kit give DC a call at dc4wd

No long arms, nothing drastic - this is a DD that will run nothing over a 33. Just looking for some insight from anybody who runs either kit to help make a decision.

For a DD, long arms would be better then the short arms, better handling. IMO, RE 4.5" long arm lift, SYE, 33" Swamper Radials. I've seen several built that away that make great daily drivers.

Rusty's uses softer spring rates then the OME and the rest of the others here mentioned and at a cheaper price.

Ive had OME and Rustys as well as some others on my cherokee and like Rustys better.
I know the XJ and TJ are two different beasts, but I like the Rustys for my DD.
The OME had too much body roll.
Just my 2 cents.

Glad you brought that up because I had a buddy who had a OME on his TJ probably 6 or 7 yrs ago, he had a lot of body roll which was kinda spooky. I had forgotten about that until you mentioned it.

Do you have the Rusty's advanced kit or the basic kit?

OK, here is what I have to say. I have a 4" Full Traction Ultimate lift and it is great. It is my DD as well so I can say it rides great and is easy on the tires. I have Goodyears MT/R 33's. I also had 4WP in Jacksonville do the whole install as I don't have all the tools nor did I have the time. If you wnat any more on this lift just go there site or let me know I will try to help. I also did the upgrade to the driveshaft, exhust, and added an Skid Row engine skid for the auto trans.

I'd highly recommend taking a ride on whatever springs you're interested in. Sounds like you've already done that with the OME.

I say this because, as you can see from this thread, opinions vary widely. I've run Teraflex springs since I lifted my TJ. I ran the 3" springs when I ran 33s and liked the ride. Some of my friends said it rode like slop, though.

When I went up to 35s, I drove one of my friend's TJ with 3.5" RE springs. I felt they were a little harsh, compared to what I was used to, but I went with RE 4.5s anyway. I had the REs on for a couple of months and sold them for a set of 4" Teraflex springs.

To each his own, I'm not trying to plug one brand over the other. I just know I like the ride of Tera springs. Your opinion will likely vary from mine, which is why I say take a ride on the springs you want, if you can.

Another thing you'll want to pay attention to are the shocks. They will make a big difference as well. I run the OME shocks and will stick with them. I think they contribute to the ride I like on mine.

Regarding the cupping, I honestly don't think one lift versus another is going to make a huge difference. Alignment will be important. Rotating and balancing the tires on a regular basis will help as well.

My 2 cents.

Tera 3inch kit with OME shocks was just the combination I was looking for.

Took it to URE last weekend and was extremely pleased with the results - rides great on the road too.

Hopefully this will help me get the last little bit of use out of the tires before replacing them.

Thanks everybody for the input.
