My managers '98 TJ started making a noise recently, so we went down today at lunch for a looksee. He rocked it side to side and there was definitely a knock... close inspection found the upper end of the swaybar link "broken". By broken, I mean the ends seem to still be captive within the rubber, but definitely not firmly connected any more and moving an inch or so by stretching the rubber. Since I have no clue about newfangled junk, I assume the rubber is simply a "dust boot" and is not responsible for connecting the link to the threads....
1) Can anyone explain how the link (down to the axle) & the threaded end (runs thru the swaybar) are connected? Balljoint? Other?
2) It's unlikely he'll take it offroad, so no real need for aftermarket pin/clip style discos. Anyone have an OEM "take off" they'd like to ditch free or cheap? If not, recommendations on finding one?
