Their is another place to get passes, and its west of the entrance of URE on 109. I just had a brain fart and cant remember the name. the owner/operator is a member here maybe he will chime in.

I always go 85north to 485 inner (south) to 49. I think its about the same whether you go 49 or 24/27.

Mountain Market and Eldorado Outpost both sell passes, and I'm sure they are open till at least 9 on weekend nights.
 
x2 on 85 .

But here is how I go:

85 to concord 29 towards the hospital.
quick cutover on country club road by the mall
right on 3. (branchview)
Left on HWY 73 (east) - avoid downtown concord
then 49 north to Badin (tank and tummy gas station) towards 109

(don't take badin-blaine road if you draggin a trailer - too curvy)

There's also another place on 109 outside Troy that advertises they sell passes, little store on the right hand side of the road if coming from Troy.

I'm a add two more spots:

East of Albemarle:
over at the corner of River Road and 24/27 there is a BP gas station and across is the older lodge looking gas station. I'm pretty sure the older one does, not sure about the newer BP.
