wow no way i would have went out there, you are crazy, if you fell through you prob would have went into instant shock

Hmmm... I stepped on 1.5 inches the other day and it didn't hold me. I'm 200 lbs give or take, but I can imagine that 7 inches would hold quite a bit of weight. At least an ATV and rider.

Looks like 7 inches can hold around 1200lbs! Kinda hard to see though.

got any skis? Id like to have a beer or ten and ski behind that 4 wheeler! haha. looks like fun!

Correction, you know you're an idiot when you can ride on a frozen pond!:fuck-you:
LOL
some bidy is crazy and has big balls

Back Home (In Ohio) it would be nothing to have fullsisize trucks even one tons with campers behind them on the lake I gre up on. Some were out there for fun other were using the campers as ice fishing shanties. Lots of fun on a tube behind a fast riding mower when younger and then 4-wheelers and or trucks.

Edit: The deepest part of the lake is 14 foot average around 6 so it is not a far fall when you go through which happens. It is required that all sunk vehicles be removed though LOL. Everyone I knew that had a vehicle fall through the insurance co. foots the bill. That was when I was between 5-10 years old. I miss the snow but not the cold LOL

Well I knew you'd ride the old 400 Randy, but that's the first time its been ON a pond. Glad to see you enjoying it! We hadn't drove the Yota on a pond and don't plan to. C ya bud.

People who are from the Asheville area may remember a really cold winter back in the late 70's. Beaver lake froze and was close to 7"s thick....When we walked out on it there were no less than 50-75 other people out on it and it's a decent size small lake. Heck...most of the town was out there at one point or another walking and even riding bikes across it.

7" of ice is a lot. I bet it can support some major weight. have you done any reading on this to see how strong ice is at 7"?

x2 7" is MORE than enough. I know here in NC we don't see that much ice, but c'mon people. 10 days of below freezing temps is all you need.

In general, the rules for ice thickness measurements are:

* 3" (7 cm) (new ice) - KEEP OFF
* 4" (10 cm) - suitable for ice fishing, cross-country skiing and walking (approx. 200 pounds)
* 5" (12 cm) - suitable for a single snowmobile or ATV (approx. 800 pounds)
* 8" - 12" (20 - 30 cm) - suitable for one car, group of people (approx. 1500 - 2000 pounds)
* 12" - 15" (30 - 38 cm) - suitable for a light pickup truck or a van

if you go and spray the top every night you will make the ice thicker!!

when I was growing up in CT we played on the ice every year.. shoot the town would send a pickup out on ice with a plow to clean the snow so we could ice skate :)

of course i did try to cross an river a little to late in the season and fell in.. DAMN that was cold I can still remember that day very clearly
