Just curious how many of you guys drive a lifted Tow Rig? I am in the process of putting a 6" lift and 37's on my Excursion. I will post pics once completed.

I have an excursion with33's and just two inch lift its fine buddy with F250 has 4" and 35's with airbags its fine towing. 37's may be a bit much that will be a huge drop on the hitch plus a shitty center of gravity I think

Not that it applies to an Excursion, but how high can you really go with a rig and still pull a gooseneck or fifthwheel? There is a truck on base that is sky high, and has big rig rims/tires on it. I think the bed is taller than than the top of most trailers, he's got a HUGE drop hithc, that I'd be afraid to tow a jetski with.

What's the point of owning a dually and making it unable to tow heavy loads?

Here's mine 96 f250 w/4in and 35's.

I am Running a 6" lift on my F350. Was running 37's MT's. Now I am running 35" AT's Pulls my Jeep and trailer ok. The 37" definately needed a re-gear. All that said, When I lifted my truck, I was not towing that much. However, now that is what it is used for 90% of the time, I am going to remove the lifts and go back to stock tires when the 35's wear out.

I appreciate everyones opinions and Pics. Some nice looing rigs. I don't tow that often. This year I only got to go wheeling once which means only one time towing. Maybe more once I get back from Iraq in 2010. I get the 1 year tour.

89wrangler what did you do for your hitch? Did you make it? I can't really see it to well

My 05 Ram 2500 is lifted 6 inches on 37s with airbags and I have no problems towing. I have a 10" drop hitch that's rated at 10k and for anything bigger I tow a gooseneck. I do have a trailer with an extended neck though. I'm a little over 6' and I can walk under the neck.

Your situation is a bit different as it's an excursion, but having a tall dd sucks. Jumping in and out of the bed, loading stuff, putting dirtbikes and such in the bed with a 45* ramp, jumping in and out of the cab, trying to use drivethroughs, not being able to use parking garages, etc. Really starts to bring the suck after a while.

So I went ahead and did my lift. I drove to Ohio and back and it rides so much better than stock did. My old suspension was wore out and you can tell. I should have tires and rims this week.

Looks good. heres my 01 dodge lifted with 5" and 35's. Tows a gooseneck just fine. Although i do have an adjustable hitch on the trailer. That helps a bunch.
