anybody done a 1 wire altenator conversion on a toy 22r. My alt and or regultor fried yesterday, along with the wires running between the two. My optima is the only reason i made it home.

I'm just starting to search and need info to get this truck charging again.

Oh, 84 22r carbed 4runner

It is possible, but you'll need an alternator with and internal regulator ('85 newer nippondenso alt would work well, and you'll need to do the conversion yourself)

Might be able to adapt a GM 1-Wire. Plus I would say much cheaper.

x2

If you cant make the body fit or dont wanna worry with it, any decent gen shop could stuff GM guts in your case...

befor you go the 1 wire route read this http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/onewire-threewire.shtml
check this one out to its a write up how to for a gm 105 amp swap

Some good info here, however they totally botch the self-excitation (also called torgue matching) part.

I dont have the time currently but if anyone wants the full explanation Ill be glad to post later

But...
A 1 wire can be installed effectively using a "Y" distribution block and powering the harness and battery on the secondary side of the "Y".

The only danger comes in direct connecting the 1 wire to battery.
