My cousin is trying to get her 1994 toyota pickup that has a 3EFI in it running. She bought it knowing it had a bad radiator hose and fuel pump. She has since replaced the fuel pump, radiator hose, injectors, plugs, wire, starter/cylonoid igniter, ignition coil and fuses. It will now start then back fire and throw the timing off.

She is going to jump the obd port to read the codes. I have a feeling it isn't going to show any because it hasn't ran enough to read the sensors.

Does anyone have any ideas or things to check?

what's the pressure on the fuel rail? I had a bad pump a few years back that did the same thing . wouldn't deliver constant pressure at idle so the truck would eventually idle down backfire and stop running. mine didn't cause a timing issue though

Well over the past two days we have reset the timing correctly and replaced the distributor to make sure it was allined correctly. We are getting fuel and spark but it still won't run. We have checked the injectors with a noid light thing. It just cranks. Does anyone have any ideas?

stupid question but does it hold compression? with fuel and spark and if timing is dialed in it can't be much more. unless its security system related.

Will it fire off if you spray ether in the intake?

Nope. And I can't figure that part out. Also the air has to travel really far from the intake to the cylinders. Makes me wonder if it's a vacume issues because this engine has a ton of lines.

What is a 3EFi?
It came in some 4runners and pickups as a v6 option over the 22re. It is also referred to as the 3vz-e

there is a 3FE that came in the FJ62

The 3rz was the 2.7 4 cylinder in 3rd gen 4 runners/pickups

the 3vz-e was the 3.0 V6 in 2nd gen 4runners and the same year pickups

there is no 3EFi. Just clearing it up. And it makes a bit of a difference.

Ah that makes alot more sense. Through out my research I thought some people called it the 3efi to indicate that it was fuel injected. I don't know alot about the Toyota engines.
