I have broken my first birfield over the weekend, and i wanna upgrade either the birfields themselves or an eliminator kit i found a conversion kit from Skys offroad and Yukon Gear makes a kit it would seem to me the conversion would be better down the long road. My current setup is 5.29 gears spartan locker up front and 36" TSL's i dont want to break a birfield every time i bind up the steering. Is anybody here heard of these conversions/know anyone running one?

Just get some aftermarket birfields. Longfield or Dirty30s or Nitro brand. All hold up to a ton of abuse. Give ECGS a call they will hook you up.

I had Trail-Gear Dirty 30's, never broke one, but always worried about it. I wouldn't buy the TG ones again, only because their QC is not as good as Longfield, and I never felt like I could truely trust them (but I did give them a good beating).

Don't fool with the eliminator, just go Longfields (or Dirty 30's), either are lifetime warranty I think, but I doubt you would ever break either.

Thanks for the reply i have looked at both longfields and dirty 30's. My thinkin was the skys conversion shaft uses a dana 44 U joint so i figured it would be stronger than a birf. Just add a CTM joint or super u joints. Anyone else thoughts??

i wouldnt go with the eliminators.longfield#1,dirty 30s #2..i ran dirty 30s after breaking 3 stocks in a 3 day weekend ride..never hurt the dirty 30s

Longfeilds all the way, I know 2 people that bought the eliminators and ended up going back with dirty30s and longfeilds.....

Ok when i buy dirty 30's or nitro's or whatever what kind of hub do i use?? do i have to use driveflanges, do the inners go into the stock spider gears/locker??

yes they will slide right in to you locker/spiders..also you can use your hubs..optional to upgrade if you choose..i didnt

I had longs. You can use the stockers and just carry a spare set with you, They can be changed in minutes on the trail.

Thanks for the replys guys very helpful any more info keep it coming it blows my mind that it broke a shaft and not a hub i wasnt beating on it just binded bad and POP no 4x4 limped it home last night @ 10:30

Im running Trail Gear Dirty 30's with 39's and stock hubs. I carry a set of drive flanges on the trail to replace if i pop a hub. Broke stock birfs and chromoly birfs with pressed on birf rings.... Never had a problem out of the dirty 30's. Even sheared off steering arm bolts and callentee and had the trunion bearing go and all the pieces fell into the birf housing.... made horrible noises while limping it out and gouged the birf a bit but i put it back in and am still running it with no breaks.

yeah same thing happened to me years ago on stock shafts and 36s when i first took my rig out. Got longfields right after and have beat on my truck with no issues.....from the longfields anyways lol! After you replace these my next problem for awhile was breaking knuckle studs.....dont waste your time replacing kunckles and studs just go ahead and buy 6 shooter knuckles and be done with it....

Thanks again for the replys guys!!! I think i am gonna buy nitro birfs from ECGS they are lifetime warranty and $100 bucks cheaper then longs i am on a budget lol.
