Doing hard time

My wife's RAV4 (4 cyl. 2000 model) has a bad MAP (not MAF!) sensor. Gonna cost me over $250 for the part, just to be sure that's the problem (it tests bad, works but out of correct range...but you never know). Of course being an electrical part it's not returnable. 
Anybody got one in a junker Toyota that might work???
(Asking here for more traffic...gotta bite the bullet and order one first thing in the a.m. otherwise.)
BTW, how come everybody elses MAP sensor (cheby, mitsubishi, etc) sells for $10 to $25...what's Toyota doing??
