Hey all,
I got a quick question, will at 5spd from behind an 85 toyota straight axle fit in a 90 model 4x4 toyota?
Also, will the head off the 85 four banger with a carb fit the fuel injected 90 model 4 cyl?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Yes it will, but you ae reverting back to OLD tech and loosing the upgrades incorperated in the newer trans. (bearing strength, gear strength)

it should, if the engine is single row timing chain and the intake and exhaust ports are the same shape between heads, they will swap (square intake ports, pear shaped exhaust ports)

Hey thanks for the info... Broncos are my game but I have stumbled onto a toyota or two so I figured I better ask before purchasing. Thanks again!

the cam on the carb truck is different.....but i been running one with my EFI set up for 2 years so i dont know if it is worth changing or not.

Yea, and they're easy enough to change that you might as well get an upgraded one from LC engineering or someplace. Fairly cheap too.

I swap out a 85 w-56 that was in my 85 4Runner with a 93 W-56 and I don't have any problems. Put a new flywheel from Marlin and a clutch kit from Trail Gear and i enjoy this swap. In my swap a went with the 93 W-56 which was a upgrade from what i had
