Anyone else heard about the Toyota recall. I walked into one of my customers shops today, he's setting there reading a recall for toyota. He said that the were replacing the frame or buy the trucks back. His son has spent alot of time making this truck his. It's an early Taco. He doesn't have any clue on what to do. The way it reads if you drop it off for the recall they decide what's to happen to it. May not be able to keep it if they decide not to replace the frame. Anybody else heard this or is he misunderstanding this?

I'm not familiar w/ thsi recall at all - but I'm sure it's optional? E.g., don't take it in?
Or does he WANT the frame replaced? That's a helluva recall.

15 sec on Google:

Basically the frame is prone to rust. The "inpesction" is to hit it w/ a hammer, lol. If it fails, they get 150% RETAIL KBB for it.

Looks like the thing to do is to go find a rusted-out taco, buy it cheap, and take it in! Get 150% RETAIL KBB value for it.

That said, I'm having a hard time seeing anywhere in NC being "prone to high snow and road salt usage". i bet this state only owns 20 trucks total, lol.
