I got a hold of some 1"x2" rectangle tubing that i am wanting to make sliders out of. It is going on a regular cab 88 toyota, how long should i make these? Extend all the way to the rear wheel or just to the end of the cab? I am going to be making these tomorrow night at a buddy's shop

Definitely a couple inches shy of the rear wheelwell. i hit that area more often than directly under the cab, it seems like.

here is some pictures of the sliders i bought.. there are awesome!! one of the best things i got 4 my truck. they saved me from a lot more body damage. they also double as a step. I just got a high lift jack and the sliders are perfect place to lift the truck (no where else really to put a high lift jack). They are 58" long. You can see them in this picture pretty well. I have a regular cab also and I think they fit good. I no you have square tube but maybe this will give u some ideas. Hope this helps. Post some pictures:popcorn:

how about welding to the frame on the passenger side with the fuel tank close by?

Not sure if you're looking for advice on the design, but I'm running AJ's super square rails on my Cherokee and the design is excellent. Perhaps you could adapt it to yours. I would run then all the way to the back edge of the wheel well. I should think welding near the gas tank would be a problem, but you could always drop it if you're worried.

Mine are not welded to the frame yet. i just drilled holes and stuck a bolt thru the frame. I want to weld them soon for extra strength incase i need to use the high lift jack. im thinkin i gonna just weld the 2 parts that attach to the frame and probably not weld the 3rd one closest to the tank.

Great idea!!

thanks for all the help i built them tonight, check out the pictures in the build thread
