any help would be greatly appreciated. a build thread will come soon.

I can't recall for the first picture and don't know if that is the correct connector. The second picture is the guage coolant temp sensor, the EFI tempo sensor is at the bottom of the intake I believe

Should have stuck with the Jeep :flipoff2:You building a wheeler or a dd?

na,I dont think so looks like hes wising up!

this is a trail rig only. honestly i loved my xj and all the fun i had in it, but you can only go so far with it. it was time for a change. i have been trying to use alldata at work to help me out with this but its a pos most of the time. oh its a one wire sensor .

for some reason i'm thinking the connector for 85 is different, but on my '89, to jumper the ECU for timing etc the connector is on the p-side just behind the battery, it has a little plastic cap over it, labeled Te, T1 etc.

ah after some googling I found this pic, it's supposedly an '86:

well got home today and looked for that other plug, guess what some dumbass cut the plug off for some reason. well i found the wires and was able to pull the codes , this is what i got.

code 6 - rpm signal ( crank angle pulse)
code 7 - throttle postion sensor
code 12 - knock sensor

im gonna get up in the morning and check this stuff out. i think i saw somewhere that the distributors had a recall for a crank sensor ????? hmmmm.

sorry , no tach, but it sounds like its idling bout right. i found out last night that someone had hooked up a wire called senor earth to the knock sensor and the knock sensor wire was just hanging in mid air. lol. that sensor earth wire, should i just ground it to the engine or frame? it goes to the ecu.

ok that was the oil presure switch, does anyone have a pic of the knock sensor and where its located?

Knock sensor is thereaded into the block on the pass. side. It is right around the oil PSU IIRC, which is in the vicinity of the oil filter.
Seems liek it's just a little round thing threaded in, with a smal lelectrical line hooked to the end. Not much to it, really.
