Had my first trailer bearing failure Sat night. I went all out I guess.... and the R/R wheel bearing/Brake drum etc. hit the ground face first with the first pump of my floor jack under the trailer.

Well took only a very quick look at it today and Its gona need at the least a bearing and hub assy, a brake drum maybe, and probaly a spindle. I have actually never messed with any of this traile axle/brake stuff, so what I remember someone telling me is its somewhat universal, right? Like I just need to go to Tractor Supply or somwhere and thell them its a 3500 lb. axle right?

I think so, but if you want to be sure, jot down the numbers and brand off the tag on the axle... I think most are dexter. if not TSC, some trailer shop that sells RVs and pull trailers will have that stuff.

Pay a little more and buy a whole new axle from redneck. I just bought 2 new 3500 lb braking axles from them for $400 total...assembled.

x2 (then save the other 1/2 broken one for parts and sell the other one off on CL)

Sweet. Thanks Guys! Just talked to Crystal @ Redneck, she sounds very knowledgeable, friendly, and attractive. :D But we've all seen that Aerosmith video...sooo

She told me what measurements I need to grab tonight and I will probably just get a whole axle, keep other side for spare stuff for the roadside.

Thanks again!

This trailer / brake stuff does require maintenance.. that might be the source of your failure.

Oh, I am 100% sure that it is...

I bought this trailer brand new in 04. Its had a rough life, but has been amazingly resilient to my(and many others) abuse.

Time to show it some love.

Kyle, Ive got a friend that runs a trailer shop down the road. You actually past it right after I noticed your wheel had a slight wobble. Let me find his number...

Well that only took a month and a half..

Just wanted to say thanks for the recommendation on Redneck. I finally took a day off to drive up and grab an axle from them. Was like $240 out the door. Will just left and we got it installed in less than an hour. None too soon as I am breaking it in by hauling a Land Cruiser I sold to Fla tomorrow. Got a spare hub/brg assy now. :smokin:
