How would you go about attaching this light box to an Aluminum I beam. I have a few ideas. Just going to see what you guys say. I would like to be right beside the I beam at the very end. This is not my trailer just an example of what I am.

Thanks

1st choice-Weld
2nd choice-Through bolt from the side of the box into the I beam.

I wouldnt weld it under any circumstances because you will mash it up eventually.

Id through bolt it like suggested and if the tube is solid I'd drill an access hole in the bottom.

Im thinking of running a ground wire for the lights down both side of the trailer instead of grounding through the frame. Anybody else done this? Seems like ill have less problems in the long run.

The trailers I've helped build, we always run the ground through the frame/chassis. Its much faster than running a wire the length of the trailer and making it look good, just make sure the contact area is clean.

Nice job on mounting the lights...they look good.

I would remove 1 top and 1 bottom bolt from each light so when they get hit they would just fold in/out without bending or breaking.

Looks real nice, wasn't saying anything bad!

Good idea, but would only work one way. If you remove the inner bolt, it would allow it to fold in if backed into something, but if you hooked it pulling forward it would still bend it. If you remove the outer it would do the opposite.

Reposition the bracket and grind the corners of the I beam.

I try not to back into things. I like the mount like it is right now because I can step on it and it is rock solid. The boat hangs off the back of the trailer quite a bit, so I don't back too close to things because those propellers are expensive. I think for now I am just going to be careful. FYI, there is only 1 bolt on the bottom bracket because there is a U-bolt that holds the cross member on. The wiring is going to be the trick.

Your set up may work. I just think you should give more consideration to the opinion of a perfect stranger that is giving you advice from behind a computer screen. Then again, its your life so do it wrong if you want.
