Tranny Rebuild/Repair

Anybody happen to know how much does it cost to rebuild a tranny for a 89 Cherokee--auto with 4.0? Anybody willing to install shade tree mechanic style for beer/food/ and exaggerated story telling?

Any help/info would be appreciated.

Rebuilds are going to be pretty high. If it's a daily driver and you want it to last I might go that way though. If it's an occasional use rig or dedicated wheeler I'd look for a used one either from someone on this forum or from a junkyard. It's a lot of work to swap one but nothing that can't be done with some persistence and proper tools.
 
I found a used engine/tranny/tc combo on here so I may go that route. The vehicle has 196K on it so it could use a little freshening up. It will be my DD.
 
Bought a 1989 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 auto with 269K original miles w/35K on a motor rebuild
